The Cowal Games Look
Attain the height of fashion at the
Cowal Games, Dunoon, Argyll, held every year on the last saturday
in the month of August.
Argyll Street, Dunoon
A view from the corner of Ferry Brae
and Argyll Street taking in the Jubilee Lamp and looking up the
main street towards the Burgh Hall. This picture was taken in early
August 2002.
Cowal Games Day
A view from the corner building at the
intersection of Ferry Brae and Argyll Street on Cowal Games Day. This
picture was taken around 1pm and the Pipe Band in view was preparing
to perform in front of the judges positioned in the flat above Kents
- the Butchers (opposite Steven Gibson Ltd & Boots). The competition
is awarded to the most entertaining band and the prize is £1,000.
The competiton was introduced to encourage more bands to march up Argyll
Street to the Stadium.
Love In A Time Of Cowal Games
You may have thought that Cowal Games
was all about Pipe Bands, old friends, fireworks and the occassional
dram, but you'd be wrong. This is our version of "The Kiss"
proving that love and romance is certainly much alive amongst the swirl
of the tartan.
Elvis & The Lost Years
On the 25th anniversary of his death,
Elvis has been seen alive and well and playing "Wooden Heart"
on the bagpipes at this year's Cowal Games. Not only have the years
been good to Elvis, he has positively prospered and he can be seen in
this picture with members of his immediate family who have apparently
rejected their father's rock & roll lifestyle. Hope we
see you next year Elvis..
Father & Son
You're never too young to learn to
play the Bagpipes although it may have been a ploy for the father
to get his son into the Stadium for free!.
Pipebags with a Difference
Can you spot the unusual
pipebags?
Harry Lauder Bags A New Record
A Harry Lauder lookalike was seen in Gibsons
recently purchasing Scottish Music. "The choice is incredible -
they have everything from Pipe-bands, fiddle, ceileidh, dance and contemporary.
I've never seen a collection like this anywhere." Gibsons commented
that they already send CD's all over the world and hope to have their
e-commerce site up and running very soon.
